Reception

Hello Reception,

I hope that those of you learning at home are safe, well and having lots of fun.

Thank you for sharing your home learning with me through Tapestry. You are all such superstars.

As all parent/carers now have access to Tapestry, home learning for Reception will be shared through this platform on a weekly basis. In addition to this, resources to support your child's engagement with both maths and Letters and Sounds phonics will also be shared through Tapestry.

In Reception, our curriculum is called the Early Years Foundation Stage. As the majority of our curriculum is delivered through play-based learning, please play with your child as much as possible! There is no expectation for your child to sit and engage with formal learning methods for long periods of time.

Learning through play is vitally important for young children's development. I would recommend following your child's interests and allowing them to 'take the lead'. For example, if your child was playing with small world trains, you could ask them, "I wonder if we could create our own train using recyclable materials? Can you explain to me how we could do this?" Following your child's interests and asking them simple, open-ended questions will engage your child and support them in accessing the expectations of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

Each day, your child should aim to engage with focused phonics and maths learning for around 10-20 minutes. Please refer to the home learning guidance shared on Tapestry in order to follow our curriculum progression in these areas of learning.

Whilst your child is learning at home, please do not hesitate to contact me through Tapestry if you have any questions or require any support regarding your child/children's home learning,

I can't wait to see you all again soon. Take care!
