The Design and Technology curriculum at Connor Downs Academy has the intent to enable children to acquire and develop academic and character skills, encouraging creative problem solving, teamwork and resilience.
We provide children with a knowledge rich approach to engaging with resources, developing their confidence and competence to identify, examine and solve practical problems. This involves the design and production of good quality products that can be tested and evaluated in use, using a variety of approaches, materials, and methods.
We encourage children to make judgements on the aesthetic, economic, social and technological quality of their own work and other designs and products.
We want to give children a sense of enjoyment, success and pride in their creative ability to design and make. This encourages flexibility, openness and risk taking, to meet practical challenges.
Our curriculum allows children to be inspired to consider future careers in STEM subjects.
