WELCOME TO YEAR 5
Mr Pascoe is the Year 5 teacher and Miss Scaife is the Year 5 teaching assistant. Mrs Crease teaches Year 5 on a Friday morning.
In Year 5, our children are encouraged to become more independent as the year progresses to prepare them for Year 6 and SATs. We expect all children to try their best and have a growth mindset.
There are opportunities to change reading books every day. PE is on a Friday afternoon and swimming takes place in the second half of the autumn term.

How you can help at home
It is important that your child reads each evening and that this is recorded in the Home-School link book, which will be regularly monitored. English (including spellings) and Maths homework will be sent out each Friday and needs to be returned to the homework tray in class by the following Wednesday. Your help is invaluable in supporting learning outside the school day. In reading this year, we are aiming to develop comprehension by asking why events happen and how characters feel about them. Supporting your children to learn all of their times tables will really help their maths skills in class.
